What to watch for Thursday

1. Boys hockey - Niagara Wheatfield vs. Williamsville North, 7:30 p.m.

Unbeaten Division 1 rivals Niagara Wheatfield (5-0-1-1) and Williamsville North (6-0-2) face off for the second time this season at Northtown Center. The defending state champ Spartans and Falcons tied back on Dec. 1, 2-2.

2. Girls hockey - Frontier/Lake Shore/Orchard Park vs. Monsignor Martin, 4:30 p.m.

Monsignor Martin (7-1-0-0-1) plays its second game in as many days when it visits FLOP (7-1-2-0-1) at Hamburg Town Ice Arena. Monsignor Martin handed FLOP, the defending Section VI or Federation champs, its only loss of the season in a 4-3 on Nov. 30.

3. Boys basketball - Health Sciences at Tapestry, 6 p.m.

No. 1 small school Health Sciences (6-1, 1-0) visits its Charter Cup rival in No. 10 Tapestry (9-2, 4-0). The lone loss for the Falcons came against No. 1 large school Canisius in the headliner of the AdPro Public/Private Challenge in December. The Thunderhawks scored more than 100 points in a 102-60 league win over Buffalo Science on Monday.

4. Girls basketball - Lake Shore at East Aurora, 7:30 p.m.

No. 8 large school East Aurora (6-1, 3-0) hosts No. 9 Lake Shore (5-2, 1-0) in a key ECIC III matchup. Emma Brinker and Sarah Tully give the Blue Devils a formidable inside duo, while the Eagles are guard-oriented with Tashawni Cornfield, Noelani Cornfield and Sophie Snyder leading the team in scoring.
