Hartland man 'almost grateful' as he pleads in child porn case

A Hartland man who had child pornography on his home computer pleaded guilty Thursday and said he was "almost grateful" he was caught.

"It changed my life," said Michael A. Anstey, 53, of Ridge Road. He said through psychiatric counseling and prayer, he now thinks child porn is "vile."

"I want to go forward and live a normal life," said Anstey. His attorney, Nathan Pace, asked for interim probation. Prosecutor Holly E. Sloma didn't object, but Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III made no promises and said he could send Anstey to prison for as long as seven years March 8.

Anstey pleaded guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a child for downloading the material and saving it to a thumb drive in August 2016.
