Roads eyed for repairs in Town of Tonawanda

The Town of Tonawanda will spend at least $2.7 million on general highway repairs this year.

Highway Superintendent Thomas C. Jones said the final highway road repair budget will be determined once his department receives state funding.

Three major road repair projects are under consideration — Willowgrove Court at Ellicott Creek Road, a $24,760 project; Abbington Avenue, from Loretta Street to Gettysburg Avenue, a $41,060 project; and Oakvale Boulevard, from Parker Boulevard to Loretta Street, a $22,756 project.

"These plans could change," added Jones. "We could end up with a road that's more severe ... We'll know more in April, after the frost thaws."

The town board's approval allows funds to be released to make general repairs throughout the 335.51 miles of roads in the town.
