Price Rite plans to open new store in Amherst

Price Rite Marketplace plans to open a grocery store in Amherst early this year.

The store at 4220 Maple Road, in the plaza at Sweet Home Road that includes the AMC Maple Ridge 8, will be the fourth Price Rite in the area. The company already has stores on Elmwood Avenue and Kenmore Avenue in Buffalo and in Cheektowaga.

Price Rite plans to hire 85 workers for full- and part-time positions in the store and has begun listing the openings online.

The new 28,000-square-foot store will be the 66th for the chain nationwide.

Price Rite said in a statement that the Amherst location will feature a mix of local products, national brands and private-label lines, including its Wholesome Pantry line of organic and clean ingredient products. The store also will employ environmentally friendly technology, including energy-efficient lighting and refrigeration.
