Joe Chille, a member of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame, is joining the roster of golden oldie hosts at WECK Radio (1230 AM and 102.9 FM)
Chille, who was the morning host on Buffalo's WJYE-FM until 2012 and worked at the station for 34 years, will host the 3 to 7 p.m. shift from Monday through Thursday on WECK starting Jan. 22.
Legendary former WKBW and WHTT--FM host Danny Neaverth has the Friday afternoon shift.
Mike Jacobs, who had Chille's shift, is moving to weekends and adding off-the-air duties at the station.
Besides hosting morning at WJYE, Chille was operations manager for the station and its sister stations WBLK, Jack-FM and WYRK, until 2012. He also has worked at WYSL AM-/FM and WGRQ after getting his start in radio in his hometown of Niagara Falls at WJJL.
“Radio has been my love since I was a kid,” stated Chille in a WECK release. “It’s something that stays in your blood - and I’m really excited to get back on the air at WECK.”
Since Buddy Shula purchased the station in the middle of last year, he has filled its roster with local radio veterans and legends. Tom Donahue (who remained at the station), Gail Ann Huber and news anchor John Zach are the morning team. Jon Summers and Harv Moore work mid-days. Moon Rivers works the evenings and Glenn Topolski and Jacobs work weekends.
