Repair work to resume on Niagara Falls water main break

Repair work has yet to be completed on the water main break that caused the closing of Niagara Falls High School on Dec. 18-19.

Niagara Falls Water Board spokesman Matthew Davison said work will resume Monday, with CATCO, the Alden contractor chosen to make the repairs, planning more excavations later in the week as it awaits delivery of parts to repair the 36-inch concrete pipe.

The Dec. 15 break on 47th Street near Niagara Falls Boulevard also reduced water pressure to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Seneca Niagara Casino and two nursing homes.

Davison said the Water Board's crews handled five other broken mains last week — two each on 13th and 77th streets, and one on 102nd Street — which were blamed on the extremely cold weather.
