The American Red Cross was summoned to aid five persons left homeless as a result of a house fire on Buffalo's East Side Sunday afternoon.
The Buffalo Fire Department said the fire at 71 Landon St., just east of Jefferson Avenue, was reported at 2:23 p.m. Four adults and an infant lived in the 2 1/2-story structure. The cause of the blaze was under investigation. The fire was declared under control about 50 minutes later.
The fire started on the first floor and quickly spread to the second floor and the attic, officials said. Damage was estimated at $100,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents of the building. No injuries were reported.
