Car riddled with bullets, injuring three on New Year's Day

A multiple shooting on New Year's Day in the Masten Park area was reported Saturday by Buffalo Police.

The report says that a woman was driving a Dodge Avenger when it was riddled by bullets in the area of Riley Street and Roehrer Avenue around 4:44 p.m. on Jan. 1. The driver, who was shot in the left shoulder, drove about a mile to Herman and Genesee streets, where she was found by police. She was taken to Erie County Medical Center by ambulance.

The woman told police she was with a second victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to his right side and was brought to ECMC in a private vehicle. A third victim also arrived in the ECMC Emergency Department with a gunshot wound to his left side. Police said he refused to provide any information. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Police collected several .40-caliber shell casings from the scene at Riley and Roehrer.

The incident is being investigated by the Homicide Unit.
