State Police identified the driver who was killed in Tuesday afternoon's pileup on the Thruway as Edward Torres, 64, of Elba.

One other person was listed in serious condition. Multiple people were treated for minor injuries.

A four-hour blizzard caused blinding conditions from Buffalo to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport Tuesday afternoon. More than 20 vehicles crashed on the Thruway eastbound side of Interstate 90.
