Skyway reopens after nearly seven hours closed

The Skyway reopened in both directions at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after being closed for nearly seven hours because of poor visibility.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory shortly after 10 a.m. for Erie, Niagara, Orleans Genesee and Wyoming counties, warning motorists that snow and blowing snow would create slippery road conditions and poor visibility until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Wind gusts are expected as high as 45 mph.

Affected areas include Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Medina, Batavia, Warsaw, Orchard Park and Springville.

An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow are expected.
