High School Extra: Thirteen teams in Ripley wrestling tournament

Thirteen teams, including visitors from Pennsylvania and Ohio, are entered in the Ripley Inviational Wrestling Tournament which will be hosted by the Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds team on Saturday.

Chautauqua Lake, Canisius, Cattaraugus/Little Valley, Dunkirk, Falconer "B", Fredonia, Frewsburg, Randolph, Southwestern, Springville, West Seneca East, Erie (Pa.), Iroquois (Pa.) and Ashtabula Edgewood (Ohio) are entered.

Weigh in will be from 7-8 a.m. with the coaches meeting at 8:30 a.m. Wrestling will begin at 9 a.m. and go straight through until around 6 p.m.

Olean, Dunkirk win in CCAA

Fresh off its win in the IAABO Tournament at Allegany-Limestone, Olean won its second CCAA West 1 game, a 63-33 triumph at Southwestern in one of the few games in a weather-impacted high school sports schedule.

Dunkirk went to 3-0 in CCAA West 1 with a 70-30 rout of Falconer. Andre Lockett had 14 points for the Marauders, including four three-pointers.

Dom Spontaneo hit two three-point shots late in the game and Panama held on for a 67-66 win over visiting Clymer in CCAA West 2. Tom Delahoy had 15 points for the Pirates. Spontaneo finished with 12. High scorer in the game was Clymer's Jordan Wade with 23 points.

Tanner Ramsey and Jared Gleason scored 16 points each for Sherman in a 53-49 CCAA West 2 victory over Westfield. Gleason had 10 rebounds and five blocks and Ramsey had six steals and five assists as Sherman won its third without a loss in division play.
