NIAGARA FALLS – A man who inadvertently left his debit card inside an automated teller machine Friday morning learned that it was used fraudulently less than a minute later to withdraw $300 from his bank account.
The victim, a 57-year-old Niagara Avenue resident, told police he used the ATM inside the Key Bank on Main Street around 11:30 a.m. Friday. While there, two other men entered the booth behind him.
After making a withdrawal the man left the bank and later realized that he had left his debit card behind. Upon checking with the bank, he was told that a $300 withdrawal was made, using the card, less than a minute after his initial withdrawal had been completed. The victim told police he suspects the two men who had been behind him in the ATM booth.
