The Buffalo Bills have ended the longest playoff drought in North American professional sports.

And they did it in about the most nerve-racking fashion possible. First, they nearly blew a late lead against the Dolphins, allowing Miami to recover an onside kick before intercepting quarterback David Fales to seal the game. Buffalo also needed Cincinnati to defeat Baltimore, and the Bengals did so by coming from behind with a dramatic late-game touchdown drive.

The teams that qualify for the NFL’s playoff bracket always make national news, but the Bills breaking their streak of missing the postseason was an especially hot topic on Twitter on New Year’s Eve.
