Water line break causes thousands of dollars in damage to Grand Island home

A water line break posed a serious electrical hazard and caused thousands of dollars in damage at a Grand Island home Friday night, according to Grand Island Fire Co. officials.

Grand Island firefighters responded to an Elsie Lane home at 8:31 p.m. Friday and found water from a ruptured radiant heater line in the second-floor bedroom was reaching the home's power outlets. National Grid and the Grand Island Water Department addressed the problem by cutting off utility services.
