Letters: ‘Christian’ preacher inspired Zyglis’ Nativity cartoon

‘Christian’ preacher inspired Zyglis’ Nativity cartoon

Recently there were letters criticizing Adam Zyglis’ Alabama Nativity cartoon. I will conceded that it was extremely tasteless, but that’s what political cartoonists do.

However, the writers are probably not aware that Zyglis based his cartoon on a tweet from an Alabama fundamentalist “Christian” preacher who, in defense of Roy Moore, tweeted that the virgin Mary was probably only a teenager and that Joseph was most likely in his 30s, and then suggested that there was essentially no difference between that and the allegations against Moore. So I have to ask, who is being sacrilegious, our cartoonist or the original disgusting tweet?
