Bills injury update: Benjamin returns to practice, McDermott hopeful on Gaines

Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was on the field Thursday as the Bills practiced in advance of Sunday's regular-season finale against the Miami Dolphins. He did not practice Wednesday and was listed as limited on Thursday.

Center Ryan Gory (illness) and cornerback Shareece Weight (concussion protocol) were not on the field and did not practice.

Defensive lineman Kyle Williams (groin) returned to practice and was listed as a limited participant.

Wide receiver Deonte Thompson was looked at by trainers after appearing to hurt his shoulder. McDermott said after practice that Thompson was still being evaluated. He was listed as a limited participant with a back/shoulder issue.

Cornerback E.J. Gaines (knee), who was listed as limited on Wednesday, was on the field in the portion of practice open to the media and taking part in position drills. He was listed as a full participant. His return after missing the New England game would be important for the defense, particularly if his replacement, Wright, can’t play.

McDermott said after practice that things look good for Gaines to be ready.
