Genesee County Park & Forest is shaping up to be a winter wonderland paradise for hikers.
Secrets of the wild this winter will be the highlight of naturalist-guided hikes, combined with snowshoe opportunities.
Naturalist-guided hikes include a Jan. 13 hike about animal tracks and another on Feb. 3 about whistle pigs and other squirrels. Hikes are scheduled from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and begin at the county's Interpretive Nature Center, 11095 Bethany Center Road, East Bethany.
If you're more into moonlight winter walks, naturalists lead two peaceful moonlight hikes, one on Jan. 27 and another, Feb. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m., starting at Pavilion B. These hikes are for ages 18 and older, and begin and end with refreshments by a warm fire.
Weather permitting, snowshoes may be used for all the hikes.
Pre-registration for the $5 per person hikes is required. Call 585-344-1122 to register.
