How to get rid of your Christmas tree in Buffalo

The City of Buffalo will pick up old Christmas trees — the real ones — starting Jan. 8 through 19.

Trees should be left on the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage pickup day. Do not put them in garbage bags. The city's Public Works department will pick them up separately so don't worry if they're not picked up at the same time as your garbage and regular recycling.

The city is also offering three places where you can drop off your tree from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday, starting Dec. 30 and ending Jan. 20:

  • Cazenovia Park golf course parking lot, south of Seneca Street at the foot of Wildwood Place.
  • Shoshone Park, parking lot, north off of Hertel Avenue at the foot of Beard Avenue.
  • 1120 Seneca St., rear parking lot between Babcock and Smith streets.
