What to watch for Wednesday

1. Boys hockey - Six games at Riverworks

Six Section VI teams welcome out-of-town opponents to the open-air facility downtown.

  • Hamburg vs. McQuaid, 11 a.m.
  • Williamsville North vs. Ithaca, 1 p.m.
  • Williamsville East vs. Saratoga Springs, 3 p.m.
  • Niagara Wheatfield vs. Pelham, 5 p.m.
  • Williamsville North vs. North Rockland, 7 p.m.
  • Williamsville South vs. Fulton City, 9 p.m.

2. Boys basketball - Chautauqua Lake at Ellicottville, 6:30 p.m.

Reigning Section VI Class C champ Chautauqua Lake (4-2) visits Class D contender Ellicottville (4-0). The Thunderbirds are led by Devin Pope, who's averaging close to 36 points per game. The Eagles are led by the inside-outside duo of Elliot Bowen and Griffin Chudy.

3. Girls basketball - Lancaster Tournament

Winners play in tomorrow's championship game at 8 p.m.

  • Cheektowaga vs. Williamsville East, 4:30 p.m.
  • Lancaster vs. Niagara Falls, 8 p.m.

There are also tournament doubleheaders today at Tonawanda, Springville, Depew and Jamestown Community College.

4. Boys basketball - Ken-Ton Winter Classic at Kenmore West

Winners play in tomorrow's championship game at 6:30 p.m.

  • Cardinal O'Hara vs. St. Joe's, 5 p.m.
  • Kenmore East vs. Kenmore West, 6:30 p.m.

There are also tournament doubleheaders today at West Seneca West, Springville, Randolph and Maryvale.
