Ex-Bill James Lofton will be on CBS' broadcast team as Bills try to end playoff drought

The Bills may still be alive for playoff contention in Week 17, but CBS isn't sending a top broadcast team to do the game. They will have a former Bill on the call, though.

Andrew Catalon will handle play-by-play for the Bills' regular-season finale in Miami while James Lofton will be the analyst.

The duo was the fifth broadcast pair mentioned on CBS' press release before the season. The Bills need a win and help to make the playoffs, so CBS presumably sent higher-ranking broadcast teams to games with more-likely playoff teams, such as Jaguars-Titans, Bengals-Ravens and/or Chargers-Raiders.

But having a former Bill on the call will be interesting. Lofton spent four years in Buffalo and was one of Jim Kelly's receivers during the early 1990s. Lofton went to the first three of the Bills' four Super Bowl appearances. He was the NFL's all-time leader in receiving yards when he retired after the 1993 season and now ranks 12th.

The Bills haven't made the playoffs since 1999, so Lofton could bring unique insight to the broadcast.
