The puck dropped Tuesday for the World Junior Championship in Buffalo. News sports reporter Amy Moritz previewed the tournament in an appearance with columnists Bucky Gleason and Jerry Sullivan during their weekly radio show on 1270 The Fan.
Gleason noted the atmosphere “was awesome when they were here in 2011,” but he’s not sensing the same excitement heading into this year’s tournament.
“It definitely does not have the same buzz and jump that I felt 7 years ago,” Moritz said.
Interest should pick up for the USA vs. Canada outdoor game at New Era Field on Friday and next week’s medal round, Moritz said.
Moritz also broke down which Sabres prospects are playing in the tournament and gave her medal prediction.
