Ryan O'Reilly out for Sabres tonight due to family matter

RALEIGH, N.C. — Center Ryan O'Reilly has returned to Buffalo due to an unspecified family matter and will not play in Saturday's game against Carolina, the Sabres announced just before taking the warmup for the game against the Hurricanes in PNC Arena.

O'Reilly, who scored the first goal in Friday's 4-2 win over Philadelphia, was on the team's charter here late Friday night but returned to Buffalo Saturday to attend to his situation. Evan Rodrigues, the lone healthy scratch up front Friday, returned to the lineup in O'Reilly's place.

O'Reilly has played all 35 previous games this season with nine goals, 14 assists and 23 points. He's second to Jack Eichel in ice time among Buffalo forwards at 20:22 per game and is the NHL leader in faceoff percentage at 61.1 percent.

With O'Reilly out, the Sabres' lines tonight based on warmups will be:

Girgensons-Eichel-Reinhart
Kane-Larsson-Okposo
Pouliot-Josefson-Pominville
Wilson-Rodrigues-Nolan
