Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal the pads he's going to wear Jan. 1 against the Sabres at the Winter Classic in Citi Field.
And they're beauties.
The "NY" logo the Rangers will wear on their jerseys is front and center with a bridge to honor what connects all of New York's boroughs. The background is the skyline logo set on a baseball used by the Mets, who play their games in Citi Field.
"It's up to me," Lundqvist said Wednesday after practice. "Obviously, we're there as guests, so it feels good to kind of pay the respect a bit and appreciate that we get this opportunity to play in their home field."
Lundqvist used pinstripe pads to pay homage to the Yankees when the Rangers played two games in Yankee Stadium in 2014.
