What to watch for Thursday

1. Boys hockey - St. Joe's vs. Williamsville North, 7:30 p.m.

Defending state champs St. Joe's and Williamsville North square off for the first time this season at Northtown Center. The Spartans went from No. 2 to No. 1 in the latest state rankings. The Marauders dropped from the top spot to No. 6.

2. Girls basketball - Williamsville South at Amherst, 6 p.m.

No. 2 large school Williamsville South heads down Main Street to No. 4 large school Amherst for an ECIC II showdown. The Tigers are the defending sectional champs, losing to the Billies twice in the regular season before beating their rival in the Class A final.

3. Boys basketball - Olean at Bishop Timon-St. Jude, 7:30 p.m.

No. 2 small school Olean makes the trip for a nonleague matchup at No. 7 large school Bishop Timon-St. Jude. The Huskies are led by Mike Schmidt and Matt Droney, while the Tigers feature big man Master Radford and St. Francis transfer Julian Cunningham.

4. Girls hockey - Amherst/Sweet Home/Clarence vs. Williamsville, 4 p.m.

Williamsville (6-2-0-1) and CASH (4-2-1-1) play for the second time this season at Northtown Center. CASH won, 3-1, back on Nov. 21.
