Driver killed, 4 teens injured in Buffalo crash

An 18-year-old Buffalo man was killed in a crash Tuesday night on French Street, Buffalo police said.

The man, who was not identified by police, was driving a Jeep Cherokee heading east on French at about 9:30 p.m. when it hit another vehicle and several trees between Kehr and Moselle streets. The vehicle may have been travelling at a high rate of speed and went through a stop sign before the collision, police said.

The driver was taken to Erie County Medical Center where he later died. Four passengers in the Jeep were also injured, though only one remained late Wednesday morning at ECMC for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The passengers ranged in age from 15 to 19.

The driver of the other vehicle, who also was not identified by police, was not injured.
