Buffalo man shot outside Niagara St. pizzeria dies of injuries

A 22-year-old Buffalo man who was shot multiple times in the head outside a pizzeria on Niagara Street has died of his injuries, Buffalo police said Wednesday.

Just before 9 p.m. Dec. 14, the man had just left the pizzeria at 859 Niagara St., between Vermont and Rhode Island streets, when he "engaged in a verbal argument" with another person who opened fire several times, a police report about the incident said.

The victim was initially driven in a private vehicle to Sisters Hospital and he was later transported by ambulance to ECMC, police said.

Police have not released his name.
