Niagara Falls man pleads not guilty to one murder, charged with assisting in second

Charles L. Walker Jr. of Niagara Falls pleaded not guilty to one murder Tuesday and faces charges that he may have assisted in another.

Walker, 24, of Willow Avenue, is charged with second-degree murder and weapons possession in the Dec. 5 fatal shooting of Ladrae Walker, no relation, on Highland Avenue in the Falls.

Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said Walker also is charged with hindering prosecution in regard to the Oct. 14 slaying of Lerowne Harris, who was shot to death outside the Coastal gas station at 19th Street and Walnut Avenue. Hoffmann said Walker is believed to have driven the accused killer, Denzel K. Lewis, to and from the scene.

Lewis, 21, of Cleveland Avenue, pleaded not guilty to murder and gun charges Tuesday.
