ALWAY - Peter Charles Gently passed away in his home in Suisun City, CA on December 4, 2017, after a long illness. "Oh, Peter! We will miss the way you always made us laugh!". His loving wife, Donna (Miller) Alway commemorated their life of 50 years together by dedicating him "from my arms to God's arms." Peter's life began in Buffalo, NY in 1941, the oldest son of Harold and Lew Alway. Peter graduated from Amherst High School, followed by enlisting in the U.S. Navy at age 17, where he trained as a Corpsman. After two years of service, Peter went to work for Allergan Pharmaceuticals in Connecticut, where Peter's first son, Philip, was born. The family moved back to Buffalo for a brief period where son, Garrett was born, then onto California. Peter's professional career in sales ended and he returned to the nursing field in various mental health facilities throughout Solano County, including being on staff at Solano County Jail, as a mental health counselor. Peter was active with his boys in Boy Scouts in Pack 92 and Troop 272. He always enjoyed camping and fishing, and watching his grandchildren grow.
