Canadian man knocked unconscious at casino hotel nightclub

NIAGARA FALLS – A 59-year-old Ontario resident was knocked unconscious late Friday at the Stir nightclub inside the Seneca Niagara Casino hotel when he was cold-cocked by a city man, police said.

The victim, of Ajax, Ont., appeared to be highly intoxicated when he was approached by the assailant shortly before midnight, police said. The two appeared to speak briefly before the victim was suddenly sucker-punched and kicked, sending him to the floor of the Sixth Street facility. He was later taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Police charged Gerald G. Harper, 54, of 21st Street with third-degree assault in connection with the attack.
