Longtime truck driver wonders why people won’t turn on lights

As I get older I look back at the priorities of government on motor vehicles. Rather than concentrating on self-driving cars and trucks that will never work in many parts of the country with snowstorms and dust storms, perhaps they should be concentrating on something that does work as on motorcycles. Mandatory daytime running lights are a help to all vehicles. It lets you see something coming, and is a great help to older people in questionable light. I also think that all vehicles should have the feature that all General Motors vehicles have that turns on your lights in lower light conditions. As a many-miles driver of trucks, it amazes me how few people remember to turn their lights on in dark conditions, creating a very unsafe condition.
