Letters: Congress needs to work on lowering prescription prices

Congress needs to work on lowering prescription prices

Many people want to find prescription drugs that cost less. American prescriptions must be rewritten by a Canadian doctor. The cost of this rewrite is $75 for a service that takes 1 or 2 minutes. The U.S. patient must wait in a clinic for a chance to visit a very busy doctor. This service might be worthwhile if the patient has multiple prescriptions.

It is unfortunate that the U.S. Congress will not negotiate with drug companies for less expensive drugs. The American consumer pays the highest price for drugs compared to all other countries in the world. TV viewers and internet users must listen to commercials that feature these items. Who pays for these drug ads … we the American consumer.
