Buffalo man connected to heroin overdose death sentenced to 4 years

A State Supreme Court justice on Monday sentenced Gregg Daniels, 24, of Humboldt Parkway, to four years in prison for selling heroin to a person in Lackawanna who died of an overdose.

The Lackawanna Police Department in May investigated a heroin overdose death. After reviewing text messages on the overdose victim's phone, it became apparent the victim had used a certain phone number for text messages to buy heroin, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.

An undercover officer sent texts from the deceased person’s phone to the number to request another heroin purchase. A short time later, Daniels arrived at the time and location specified in the texts and attempted to sell heroin to the undercover officer.
