Homeroom Announcements: Monday's big games & more

Get yourself ready for today's #PrepTalkLive action with everything you need to know about the day ahead in high school sports.

What to watch for Monday

1. Boys basketball - Chautauqua Lake at Franklinville, 7:30 p.m.

Reigning Class D state semifinalist Franlinville (1-0) hosts Class C Section VI champ Chautauqua Lake (2-0) in a nonleague matchup between a pair of top small schools.

Sam Erickson, Isaac Kopp, Darren Clark and Brock Blecha were the top four scorers for the Panthers a year ago and are all back for their seniors seasons. Devin Pope averaged 28.2 points per game as a junior for the Thunderbirds and has scored 76 in the first two games this season.

2. Girls basketball - Wilson at Newfane, 6:30 p.m.

Newfane (3-0) looks to beat nine-time defending Niagara-Orleans League champion Wilson (3-0) for the first time in the last decade. The Lakewomen and Panthers are expected to be two of the teams in the mix for the division title this season.

3. Girls hockey - Amherst/Sweet Home/Clarence vs. Monsignor Martin, 4:30 p.m.

CASH (3-0), the last undefeated team in the Western New York, takes on Monsignor Martin (3-1) on the open-air rink at Riverworks.

CASH has wins over Williamsville, Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew and Kenmore/Grand Island. Monsignor Martin lost to Williamsville, 2-1, and beat Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew, Frontier/Lake Shore/Orchard Park and Kenmore/GI.

4. Boys hockey - Canisius vs. Lancaster, 8 p.m.

The Crusaders (1-1) and Legends (0-0-1) both look to improve their Division 1 records at HarborCenter tonight.

Canisius beat Orchard Park and lost to defending state champ Williamsville North. Lancaster played Clarence to a 3-3 tie.

- Girls basketball: Frewsburg at Southwestern, 7:30 p.m.
- Boys hockey: North Tonawanda vs. St. Francis, 8 p.m. at Hyde Park
