Buffalo police accuse man of shooting ex's new boyfriend

Buffalo police Monday announced that they have arrested a man following an apparent domestic related shooting incident that occurred late Saturday night.

Dave Thornton, 27, of Buffalo, has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting.

Northwest District officers responded to the call just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Lawn Avenue. At the scene, police found a 22-year-old man who had been struck by gunfire while sitting inside his vehicle. The victim, also a Buffalo resident, was transported to Kenmore Mercy Hospital where he was initially listed in stable condition.

Police said Thornton was apprehended a short time later on Sanders Road. According to detectives, Thornton is the ex-boyfriend of the victim's girlfriend.
