What to watch for Saturday

1. Boys basketball - Cataract Classic at Niagara Falls

A six-game slate includes many Section VI and Monsignor Martin title contenders:

  • Medina vs. Nichols, noon
  • Franklinville vs. Niagara Catholic, 1:30 p.m.
  • Amherst vs. East, 3 p.m.
  • V-Monroe vs. Williamsville North, 4:30 p.m.
  • Grand Island vs. Wilson, 6 p.m.
  • Niagara Falls vs. Park, 7:30 p.m.

2. Girls basketball - Winter Classic at Wilson

The four-game showcase hosted by the Lakewomen features four public vs. private showdowns:

  • Sacred Heart vs. Williamsville North, noon
  • Lancaster vs. Mount Mercy, 1:45 p.m.
  • Lockport vs. Nichols, 3:15 p.m.
  • Nardin vs. Wilson, 4:45 p.m.

3. Boys hockey - Canisius vs. St. Francis, 5 p.m.

The Monsignor Martin rivals play in one of four games at the Northtown Center throughout the day:

  • Lockport vs. Sweet Home, 1 p.m.
  • Kenmore East vs. Starpoint, 3 p.m.
  • Canisius vs. St. Francis, 5 p.m.
  • Hamburg vs. Williamsville South, 5:30 p.m.

4. Track & field - Early Christmas Classic, 10 a.m. at Houghton College

The Early Christmas Classic is one of two meets today. Other locals will also participate at Ithaca College in the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.

5. Wrestling - Multiple tournaments

Saturday's a busy day in wrestling with six local tournaments:

  • 12th annual Cheektowaga Warrior Duals, 8 a.m.
  • Springville Duals, 8 a.m.
  • Depew Wildcat Duals, 9 a.m.
  • John Vesper Memorial Duals at Clarence, 9 a.m.
  • Portville Invitational, 9 a.m.
  • Pioneer Duals, 10 a.m.

Honor roll
- Boys basketball: Pastor-Cooper Showcase at Daemen (noon, 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m.)
- Boys basketball: Tom Keenan Memorial at Canisius High School (2 p.m., 3:30 p.m.)
- Boys basketball: Cardinal O'Hara at Tapestry, 2:30 p.m.
