Teen father accused of assaulting infant daughter indicted

A 17-year-old father has been indicted on criminal charges in connection with a violent assault on his 2-month-old daughter.

Ziaire Davis, 17, of 388 Abbott Road, was arrested shortly after the infant was taken to Women & Children's Hospital on Oct. 7. The baby sustained a fractured skull, broken ribs and other injuries, and was placed on life support in critical condition, according to Buffalo police.

Davis allegedly shook the infant and threw her onto a bed and into a wall while watching her in the afternoon. A grandparent called 911.

Davis faces two counts of first-degree assault, one count of assault with intent to cause serious injury and a misdemeanor charge of acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Davis is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in State Supreme Court.
