NFTA sets Lackawanna forum on proposed bus route changes

A public forum to discuss proposed changes to three main bus routes serving Lackawanna will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Baker Hall School, 777 Ridge Road.

The forum, sponsored by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, will deal with proposals that would affect Metro service on the South Park (16), Hamburg (36) and Lackawanna (42) routes.

One concern is the elimination of the 36 route that offers service to McKinley Mall in Hamburg, community activist John Ingram said.

Members of Buffalo Transit Riders United, an advocacy group that promotes increased access to public transportation, will also attend.

"Lackawanna has been severely underserved for too long," the group posted on its Facebook page. "Public input is essential to ensure any changes made will be most beneficial to those who rely on the 16, 36, and 42."
