A Jamestown woman was doused with a flammable substance and set on fire late Tuesday night and was listed in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center, Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Luis Castro-Mojica, 37, was taken into custody and was in the Jamestown jail awaiting arraignment on a first-degree assault charge Wednesday.
Castro-Mojica's wife was burned late Tuesday night at a house on Thayer Street.
The victim, who was identified as a 27-year-old woman, suffered severe burns to her face, head and torso, according to the Sheriff's Office. She was initially taken to UPMC WCA Hospital, then was airlifted to ECMC for treatment of her burns.
Castro-Mojica was taken into custody at the scene of the burning. He was also wanted on three other domestic warrants related to a previous incident involving the same woman, officials said.
Additional charges were expected to be filed against Castro-Mojica.
