Help sought to identify body found last June in Lake Ontario

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help to identify a body found floating five months ago in Lake Ontario.

On June 13, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to the U.S. Coast Guard Station at 1 Scott Ave., Youngstown, where the body of an unknown man was found. Authorities are still unsure how long the body had been in the water.

The Sheriff's Office describes the man as a white male between 40 and 60 years old; 6 feet, 1 inches tall; 152 pounds, and with brown, straight hair that is balding at the front of the head near the temples. The body also shows evidence of an old rib fracture on the right fifth rib. The Sheriff's Office also has fingerprints and other DNA data on file.

Anyone with information on the possible identity of the man is asked to contact the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau at 438-3327.
