It has become a December tradition in Buffalo — as the snow piles up so does the number of Bills starters on injured reserve.

On Tuesday, the Bills placed defensive end Shaq Lawson (ankle) and wide receiver Jordan Matthews (knee) on IR. Cap Capi and preseason standout Brandon Reilly were promoted from the practice squad to fill their roster spots.

Hearing the difference: Bills defensive tackle Deandre Coleman was reluctant to wear his prescribed hearing aids growing up. He's come to appreciate the devices during his four-year NFL career. "I noticed how they did change my life," Coleman tells Vic Carucci.

Gronk loses appeal: The New England Patriots will have to play without All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski in Week 14 after the NFL upheld its suspension of the Western New York native for his late hit of defenseless Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White.

Quarterly report card: The Bills received a few F grades and not a single A from professor Jay Skurski this marking period.

Major League Bills fan: Cincinnati Reds rookie Jessie Winker lived in Niagara Falls until he was 7 and has never hopped off the Bills' bandwagon. "I don’t think you have any other options when you’re from Western New York," Winker explains. "I was born, I became a Bills fan. That’s pretty much it. The cool thing about the Bills is that the majority of their fan base is from that area."
