S.E.R.V. Niagara looking to spread holiday cheer to veterans

LOCKPORT -- S.E.R.V. Niagara is looking for active duty military, veterans and their families in Niagara County this holiday season to bring a little cheer into their lives with meals, toys and even Christmas trees for those who need assistance. The deadline for requests is Friday, Dec. 15.

Volunteers will deliver a ham or turkey dinner with all of the trimmings for the fourth consecutive year in time for Christmas, according to Jennifer D’Andrea, president and founder of S.E.R.V. Niagara.

The group is also looking for veterans’ families in need of Christmas gifts and is collecting the first names, ages and special requests in order to purchase gifts, wrap them and personalize the gift tags. If a child needs a winter coat or boots, sizes are needed as well, D’Andrea added.

The assistance request form may be found on the organization’s website at: www.SERVniagara.org or by calling 438-5437. Since 2014, S.E.R.V. Niagara has delivered more than 450 Christmas gifts to children of active duty military and veterans in need. The 2017 goal is 250 gifts.

Donations for the Christmas Drive may be dropped off Monday through Friday at 80 Park Ave., second floor, Lockport. To be a participating collection site for toys, hygiene items and non-perishable items, call 438-5437.
