Stooges, a new Lockport family restaurant offering innovative burgers and fried mac-and-cheese nuggets, opened Dec. 1.
The restaurant is located at 2 Pine St., a historic building alongside the Erie Canal locks that was formerly Lockport's City Hall.
Owners Joe Blaszczak and Adrienne Seekins are offering a menu featuring salads, macaroni and cheese sandwiches and stuffed burgers that includes vegetarian versions.
Fried snacks include golden spheres of macaroni and cheese ($6) and battered dill pickle chips ($6).
Burgers can arrived stuffed with macaroni and cheese and sauce, or taco fixings, or peanut butter plus bacon-bourbon jam ($13). All burgers come with fries.
There's also chicken versions, like the inside-out chicken parm stuffed with spaghetti, sauce, and mozzarella cheese ($13). Sausage versions include a burger stuffed with cherry peppers, banana peppers, capacolla and smoked gouda cheese ($13).
Vegetarians and vegans have been considered, Blaszczak with a vegetable burger, of quinoa, vegetables and beans ($11), and a hummus plate, with pita bread, vegetables and tapenade ($9).
The restaurant, with about 80 seats, offers views of the locks and a full bar that includes gluten-free beer.
