Someone caused extensive water damage to the service elevator at the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo and went on a modest spree of tipping over vending machines and other equipment in the hotel over the weekend, according to police.
Officers responding Sunday morning to a report of a person acting irrationally found significant flooding and water damage in the service elevator. It wasn't clear if the electronics in the elevator system were damaged or operational, the officers reported. A fire sprinkler head on the seventh floor had been pulled off, and that appeared to be the source of the water.
On the second floor, officers found a vending machine, a candy machine and a dryer tipped over. The two vending machines sustained heavy damage.
The witness who called 911 said he saw the vandal damaging the machines and he could identify the suspect.
