Matt Myers of West Seneca West earned another accolade following a record-setting season as the senior quarterback was named winner of the 2017 Connolly Cup.
An award presented by the Riverside Athletic Club, the Connolly Cup is bestowed upon the top player in Western New York as determined by the Cup committee. This is the 46th year since the award's inception in 1972.
Myers set several school records during a campaign in which the Indians went 13-0 and captured the New York State Public High Schools Athletic Association Class A championship.
The Buffalo News Player of The Year set single-season West Seneca West records for total touchdowns (46), passing TDs (24), rushing TDs (22), all-purpose yards (3,434) and passing yards (2,397). He also set marks for total TDs in a game (six) and all-purpose yards in a game (425).
