Urge Republicans to keep health care costs deduction
One of the most heartless parts of the proposed tax bill is the elimination of the deduction for health care costs. My unreimbursed health care costs are about one-quarter of my income and the deduction helped mitigate the pain of this expense.
Elimination of the deduction also hurts people paying for nursing home care. When people can no longer pay these costs, which can go up to $90,000 per year, they go on Medicaid, thus costing the government much more than it saved by eliminating the deduction.
And why is this deduction being eliminated? To raise enough money to offset the gigantic tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.
If you live in a district represented by a Republican, please contact him and urge that this deduction be preserved.
