Planned daycare in Amherst gets second look — and first approval still stands

The Amherst Planning Board on Thursday reconsidered its approval of a $2.5 million daycare center proposed for a busy corner of town — and came to the same decision it did the first time.

The re-review of the EduKids center planned for 6286 Main St., at Stonham Way, came at the request of the Amherst Town Board, which acted after residents of the Greythorne gated community raised concerns about increased traffic and lack of notice.

One approval may not be enough for proposed day care center in Amherst

The Planning Board brought up the center, which it first approved Oct. 19. But it refused to reopen the public hearing or deny the site plan.

EduKids founder Nancy Ware said she met with neighbors and made minor plan changes based on feedback.

State transportation planners are studying whether a traffic signal is required at the intersection.
