The Niagara County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a hunter who was found dead Wednesday under a tree stand in Royalton.
The man was identified as Stephen C. Harrington, 69, of Royalton, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
An investigation into Harrington's death by the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau is continuing, the Sheriff's Office said.
An initial investigation showed Harrington suffered from a medical emergency in the tree stand before he fell to the ground, the Sheriff's Office said.
Emergency responders found him lying unresponsive at the base of a tree in woods on Royalton Center Road, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Attempts at giving Harrington life-saving treatment were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff's Office said.
