NYPA fishing platform set to close for season

You only have a few days left to take advantage of the New York Power Authority’s fishing platform located in the gorge area of the Lower Niagara River. It closes on Dec. 3.

In addition, the power project will also be closing the stairs leading down to the shoreline near the fishing platform, the fishing area in the upper river near the water intakes, as well as the fishing access off Upper Mountain Road at the reservoir. This also includes the parking areas associated with those access points.

Every year, on or around Dec. 1, these popular access points close down due to safety concerns. These facilities will re-open in the spring when snow and ice are no longer an issue. Traditionally this is normally on or around April 1.

If you would like information on the fishing platform, call 796-0135 Ext. 45.
