Tap takeover at Brennan's

Brennan’s Bowery Bar (4401 Transit Road) will host a tap takeover from 5 to 11 p.m. Dec. 2 featuring Flying Bison Brewing Company. On tap will be Rusty Chain, Blizzard Bock, 716 IPA, MacBison Scotch Ale and a brewpub exclusive beer. Brennan’s continues to host local breweries on every other Saturday. Call 633-9630.

Stouts at Colter Bay

Colter Bay (561 Delaware Ave.) will ready attendees for the cold winter months with a tap takeover of stouts from Founders Brewing Company from 5 to 11 p.m. Dec. 1. The list includes Canadian Breakfast Stout (11.7 percent ABV bourbon and maple syrup barrel-aged imperial stout), Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Lizard of Koz and DKML (barrel-aged malt liquor). Scotch Ale and Highlanders

Flying Bison will release its MacBison Scotch Ale on Dec. 2, in bottles and on tap. At 2 p.m., Gordon Highlanders Pipe & Drum group will be on hand as a cask of Two Sisters Wee Heavy (aged in Buffalo Distilling Company barrels) is tapped for a toast. Call 873-1557.

New from Thin Man

Thin Man Brewery (492 Elmwood Ave.) will launch three beers on Dec. 1: Christmas Ale (7.1 percent ABV seasonal), Smooth Maneuvers (6.4 percent ABV collaboration New England-style IPA), and All The Words (double dry-hopped 100 percent Brettanomyces-fermented New England-style IPA brewed with peach, pineapple and New Zealand hops).

Thin Man also will host Brooklyn brewery Other Half for a mobile can release at 10 a.m. Dec. 2. On sale will be DDH (double dry-hopped) Double Citra Daydream Imperial Oat Cream IPA (8.5 percent ABV), DDH Broccoli Imperial IPA (7.9 percent ABV), and Bad Decisions Imperial Stout (11 percent ABV). One-ounce samples will be available, as well as draft pours of Other Half beers. Call 923-4100.

Cask fest at Goodbar

Mr. Goodbar (1110 Elmwood Ave.) will host its annual cask fest from Dec. 1 to 3. Presale sheets are available at the bar for $15 (worth $20 of cask beer pours), or customers can pay as they go for full or half glasses of each cask. Call 882-4000.

12 Gates of Christmas

12 Gates Brewing Company (80 Earhart Drive) will reprise its 12 Gates of Christmas this year, featuring a different special keg of beer each day. It leads up to the release of 2017 Grave Concerns and the brewery’s anniversary party on Dec. 12. A full list of beers are available at the brewery’s website (12gatesbrewing.com), including a pecan pie porter on Dec. 1, and hot chocolate amber on Dec. 2. Call 906-6600.

New from Pressure Drop

Pressure Drop Brewing Company has released its first two beers, on tap now at The Barrel Factory (65 Vandalia St.). The first is Strummer, a 5.2 percent ABV Belgian blonde ale. The second beer is Sticky Trees, a 6 percent ABV all Mosaic-hopped IPA. Pressure Drop will launch to the public outside of The Barrel Factory at Brewed and Bottled (402 Center St., Lewiston) on Dec. 8, and Ebenezer Ale House (4348 Seneca St., West Seneca) and Moor Pat (78 E. Spring St., Williamsville) on Dec. 9. Call 541-1454.
