Bar Bill opening Clarence restaurant in Old Red Mill site

The owners of Bar Bill Tavern, East Aurora's wings and weck specialist, plan to open their second location in Clarence.

Clark and Katie Crook bought the Old Red Mill property at 8326 Main St., closing on the real estate on Nov. 27.

"We are beginning our development planning," Crook said. "This is a restoration project, which we're very excited about."

This isn't a tear-down and new-build project, said Crook. The original farmhouse will be restored and retained as much as possible. "It's going to be a fairly involved process, and take a fairly long period of time. The site needs a a lot of love."

Demolition will begin as soon as possible, Crook said. Work will continue through the winter, with a hoped-for opening in late 2018.

The menu will echo the original Bar Bill menu, whose beef on weck and carefully calibrated crispy wings have made it a Buffalo area  destination.
